Well, we had a great meeting Wednesday (no margarita's for Cinco de Mayo) but still a good time.
Who was there?
- Tom & I, Sam Rougie & Mike Myers, new player Tristen had family members Troy & Donovon stop by to get the low down on how thing work, and Richie Collier and Kelly O'Neil stopped in (in between Cinco activities) to catch up.
What we talk about?
- Sam has been researching some fundraising ideas that we want to explore.
- Planning: a Chicken/Rib BBQ at the Rensslear Elks for sometime in July, a pancake breakfast in the Ballston Spa area in August or September.
- Game schedule: we want to have nine games scheduled for the season (not counting the Guilderland High game this month). Opening game will be in Poughkeepsie August 13th, weekend of Aug. 20th TBA, nothing on the weekend of Aug. 27 or Labor Day weekend. Pick back up Sept. 10 - 17 - 24th, October has five weekends so we have 10 weeks to get in 9 games weather permitting. Season will not go into November this year, it get's to cold and unprdictable for the kids.
- We are planning to have one game at each of the following fields: Watervliet, Schalmont, Ballston Spa, East Greenbush, North Colonie, Bethlehem, Saratoga, Guilderland, Glens Falls.
- The desired scheduled time for all games will be Saturday at 11am or Sunday at 2pm, not counting at least one game under the lights (evening) we cannot guarantee these times, they are our goal times.
- Tom, Mike & Grady (welcome to the gang new Challenger Rep for CDPW Federation Grady) will see if they can get the schedule done before Pop Warner levels are determined at the end of August so we head into the season with all our games down on paper, yeah!!!!
- The organization that handles the ref's for Pop Warner has offered to send us referee's to every game if we can give them a schedule at the beginning of the season (my goal).
- Mike Myers will look into getting us scheduled for a visit to Giants training camp at SUNY Albany as soon as information becomes available concerning this years football forecast.
- Next meeting set for June 1st Wednesday at 7pm at the 76 Diner.
- Discussed getting donations from area businesses to use as raffles for the BBQ/pancake breakfast and as prizes for 50/50 raffle instead of giving back the 50%, if we can collect items worth more than the cash equivelant. Bake sales need to come back. The money raised on 50/50 & bake sales will support the end of year banquet (yes I know we didn't have one this year, I am sorry).
- I reported that I have ask for 2010 new player jacket sizes and re-orders via email so that we can get the order in ASAP
- I will be using this website as our master communications location. I do receive multiple inquiries that require the same answer so it would be helpful I believe for everyone if I post all answers to this blog for reference
- We ended the meeting at 9pm because Sam & Mike had to go bowling.;)
I hope you found the posting of the meeting highlights informative and check this site frequently for updates.
Yours, Nicki
